The role:
The College currently has a vacancy for a Senior Policy Officer to join the dedicated team working out of our expanding Macquarie Street office.

The continual growth of the College has enabled us to create this role, which entails supporting the College in research, development, dissemination and implementation of policy and projects related to health issues and systems in Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the Manager of Policy and Advocacy, the successful applicant will be part of a small team who research and prepare health policy, advise on the implementation of policy, undertake various advocacy roles on behalf of College stakeholders, research and submit reports for externally funded projects, as well as organising and providing administrative support to RACP Policy and Advocacy Committees.

This position would suit a policy officer with at least 2-4 yrs experiences in implementing policy's and projects with in a health related area

Key responsibilities
* Research, consult and write policies on a range of issues. Obtain endorsement from relevant sectors of the College
* Participate in the provision of rapid response to health issues as they arise
* Provide timely policy and project advice to different stake holders
* Remain well informed and identify current, evidence-based literature relevant to policy areas
* Prepare submissions, reports, funding applications, correspondence, presentations and other documents as required
* Identify additional funding opportunities for projects or policy related initiatives
* Other tasks required by the Policy and Advocacy Department as identified by the Manager

To be successful in this position you will have:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in health or related disciplines
* Skills in preparing policy briefs and background analyses
* Knowledge of the Australian and/or New Zealand government and health system structures
* Analytical skills in developing policy recommendations
* Planning and communication skills to liaise with policy working groups
* Demonstrated administration and organisational skills
* Ability to prioritise and manage deadlines
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team with a flexible approach to sharing tasks and working cooperatively
