Job posting: Disability Advisor (UQ)

The role The Disability Adviser will develop and guide students with disabilities and other ‘at risk’ students to make academic adjustments during their studies. The position will work as part of a larger team in the Learning Hub, who will present services to optimise students learning experience, across the University’s three campuses, and work closely with other key learning providers including the Library, TEDI and most importantly, the Faculties.

The Student Services Directorate is a unit with a strong focus of providing a broad range of student services. It comprises of the following sub-units: the UQ Multifaith Chaplaincy Service; the Learning Hub, Student Counselling, the Careers and Graduate Employment Centre; the Student Equity Unit, Administrative Support Unit and Accommodation Services; and is expected to work closely with other Directorates in the Division.

The person Applicants should possess a degree in a relevant discipline e.g. /Social Work/Special Education/Psychology/Behavioural Science with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. An ability to develop and present strategies to assist students with disabilities and other ‘at risk’ students to remain actively and productively engaged with their studies is essential. You will have an understanding of and commitment to the development of students as independent learners and an ability to keep abreast of current learning trends and service delivery techniques. Personal qualities required for this role are a high degree of initiative and a willingness to accept responsibility and the ability to work and adapt within a constantly changing and evolving environment.

Remuneration The remuneration package will be in the range $65,615.29 – 71,765.85 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $76,769.89 - $83,966.04 p.a.). This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 7.
