Position Overview
The
ANU is seeking a motivated, professional relationship manager to lead
alumni relations and so advance the University's engagement with these
key stakeholders.
Working within the Division of Registrar and Student Services the successful candidate will operate in strong partnerships with the University's Colleges and central administrative area and provide leadership in initiating strategic linkage with community contacts.
The successful applicant will have relevant tertiary qualifications, demonstrated experience and expertise in the development and implementation of communications strategies and have a sound understanding of working within the tertiary education sector.

Responsible to Deputy Registrar, Student Recruitment and International Role statement PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Manager Alumni Relations develops and manages a range of engagement programs aimed at increasing the depth and diversity of relationships with The Australian National University’s alumni, by developing and implementing an alumni engagement strategy and working with other key personnel in the University to align alumni outreach with recruitment and fundraising priorities, programs and objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS:
Position Dimension & Relationships:
The Manager Alumni Relations reports to the Deputy Registrar Student Recruitment and International and liaises with staff in other areas within the Division, as well as with staff from all of the Colleges and in other key administrative areas of the University. The position also liaises with external stakeholders, including alumni networks (within Australia and internationally), other universities and the community.
Role Statement:
1. Develop the overall strategies for alumni relations within the University's strategic priorities.
2. Manage the development and delivery of the alumni relations program locally, nationally and internationally, in partnership with other areas of ANU to secure Alumni support for, and beneficial involvement in University activities, particularly student recruitment, community outreach and fundraising, including managing a suite of events, programs and benefits for Alumni which ensure continued engagement with ANU.
3. Oversee the activities of Alumni Relations staff and alumni volunteers, and coordinate the contribution of other university staff to the alumni relations program.
4. Monitor the financial performance of the alumni relations program, and make appropriate changes to the annual program in line with budget constraints.
5. Provide strategic support and advice to Colleges, Halls of Residence and other affinity groups, on establishing and maintaining continuing links with their Alumni, students and former staff.
6. Maintain the Convocation Roll and other sources of information (including databases) about ANU Alumni.
7. Other duties appropriate to the classification level as directed. Selection criteria A. Qualifications
1. Postgraduate qualifications and extensive experience, OR extensive management experience and proven management expertise, OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
B. Experience
1. Experience in alumni relations and/or a background of administration within a university or the tertiary education sector.
2. Experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and working with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds, as required for building constructive relationships diverse groups.
C. Attributes
1. Demonstrated capacity to manage a number of projects with minimum supervision, and to lead and coordinate the activities of a small team in a busy environment.
2. Written, oral communication and presentation skills of a high order, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels within University, and with external stakeholders.
3. A demonstrated high level of achievement in relation to incorporation of EO principles into strategic planning and the capacity to accept devolved responsibility for achievement of equity and diversity strategies.
