Per Capita Policy Exchange 2008: Market Design - Driving Investment in National Capacity

Policy Exchange, Per Capita’s annual policy conference, will take place this year in Brisbane on 30-31 October 2008.

The Federal Treasurer, Wayne Swan, the Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh, and the Federal Housing Minister, Tanya Plibersek, have accepted invitations to deliver Keynote Speeches at this year’s event.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Market Design: Driving Investment in National Capacity”. The event will examine how government sets the ‘rules of the game’ in key markets, aligning policy goals with profitable behaviour and stimulating investment in areas of national capacity constraint.

The conference builds on our inaugural policy event held in Melbourne last April, which was attended by a number of Premiers, Federal Shadow Ministers, and senior public servants. Like that event, the 2008 conference will be organised in conjunction with the UK’s Policy Network. This relationship gives us access to leading global policy thinkers – last year, we hosted speakers from 10 Downing Street, the European Commission, and the US Progressive Policy Institute.
