Visiting interstate tertiary students
Concession travel eligibility for students visiting from interstate differs from state to state.
Northern Territory:
Visiting interstate students are eligible for concession travel upon presentation of a Student Id Card issued by their education provider.
South Australia:
Both South Australian students enrolled in an interstate institution and interstate students visiting South Australia are eligible for concession travel on public transport as long as they are enrolled on a full time basis. All eligible students need to apply to the Passenger Transport InfoCentre for a SA Student ID Card.
Western Australia:
Only students enrolled in a Western Australian institution on a full-time basis are entitled for concession travel on public transport. Visting interstate students are not eligible.
Queensland:
Visting interstate students, or students residing in QLD but enrolled in an interstate education provider, are not eligible for concession travel on public transport.
New South Wales:
Only Australian Capital Territory-based students are entitled for concession travel in New South Wales. Students from other states are not eligible for concession travel in NSW.
Victoria:
Visting interstate students, or students residing in VIC but enrolled in an interstate education provider, are not eligible for concession travel on public transport.
Tasmania:
Only TAS-based students are eligible for concession travel on public transport.
Australian Capital Territory:
Only ACT-based students are entitled for concession travel on public transport.
