Students enrolled part time

Part-time enrolment is commonly defined as a study load of less than 18 credit points (or less than 3 subjects) per semester. The exact definition of part-time versus full-time enrolment varies by higher education provider, therefore you should consult your University's administration for full details of the criteria set by the education provider.

Study load/enrolment status is the main criterion for determining students' eligibility for concession travel on public transport in all states and territories except the Northern Territory (where all students are eligible for concession bus travel, but only full-time students are entitled to concession fares on Territory ferry services).

Part-time students may be eligible for concession travel with a Health Care Card issued by Centrelink if they qualify as low income earners. Please refer to the information specific to your state or territory for more about Health Care Card holders' entitlements for concession travel on public transport.
