Getting the word out

A panel of publishing and media representatives offered their insights into the avenues available for postgrads to communicate their research beyond academia. Panellists included Simon Clews, Director, Writing Centre for Scholars & Researchers, University of Melbourne; Michael Gawenda, Director, Centre for Advanced Journalism, University of Melbourne; Rose Michael, Publisher, Arcade Publications; and Michelle Rayner, Executive Producer, Hindsight, ABC Radio National. Moderated by Tammi Jonas, CAPA Vice President. The session closed with an outline of how universities, particularly university media offices, can help postgraduates get their messages out and the media support available to students, by The University of Melbourne’s Public Relations and Media Manager, Di Squires.
