English Language Proficiency Support for Postgraduate International Students - Call for submissions

CAPA has been invited to contribute to a project with the aim of improving English language proficiency support measures for international postgraduate students studying onshore in Australian universities. The project is being managed by the Australian Universities Quality Agency.

CAPA is inviting submissions and input from affiliates on matters relevant to postgraduate international students addressing any or all of the following topics:

  1. Strengths and weaknesses of current practices in ensuring adequate support for English language proficiency
  2. Improvements to pathways into university study that would help maintain or improve English language proficiency
  3. Examples of current good practices in ensuring and supporting English language proficiency
  4. The significance of other language-related matters, such as cultural knowledge (both general and educational), acculturation, socialisation and academic study skills
  5. Suggested good practice principles for English language proficiency in academic studies
  6. Other matters relevant to English language proficiency and postgraduate international students, including university practices, policy and procedures

 

Responses may be as a formal submission, or simply as comment or feedback on some or all of the above points. Please indicate if you wish for any of the material you submit to be treated as confidential.
