International Student Officer

Jayasree Pillai is one of the International Officers for 2012.

I have been elected as the International Student officer of the Council of Australian Postgraduate Association (CAPA) for the term 2012. Apart from the above position, I hold the following positions as well:

1) Post Graduate Representative for the La Trobe Faculty of Law & Management

2) Member of the Academic Board for La Trobe University

3) Post Graduate Officer of La Trobe University Student Union (LTSU).

I decided to pack my bags and leave Singapore for Melbourne last year in February to embark on my double masters in Accountancy and Finance at La Trobe University. Prior to that, I was working as an external auditor for 6 years in Singapore. Apart from my career and academic front, I have a strong passion for conservation for wildlife. I have been a zoo volunteer for 6 years in the Singapore Zoo. My volunteer stint has given me the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people from various walks of life. Coming from a multi-racial society like Singapore, I am able to understand and communicate with students from all nationalities with much ease. I am excited and eager to enhance the international students’ experiences in Australia with the help of my fellow International Officers, Catherine & Kylee.
