International Officer
Catherine Xiaocui Lou is the International Student officer of the Council of Australian Postgraduate Association (CAPA).
Catherine has been engaged in organizing the activities and events for students since the very beginning in her university career in Beijing, China. Before Catherine came to Melbourne, she served as Assistant President in Beihang University Postgraduates Association. Catherine worked in organizing the events and rights for the postgraduate students, and at the same time she achieved a Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics.
Catherine is currently completing a PhD at Victoria University, researching ‘Optimization Modelling on Supply Chain Management’. In September 2010, Catherine was elected to be the Vice-President of Victoria University Postgraduates Association (VUPA). At the same time, she was also elected as the Postgraduate Research Student representative of Postgraduate Research Committee in Education and Research Board for VU from 1 December 2010. As a PhD student, she is pleased to work in developing and improving the academic environment, activities and welfare for higher education students.
Catherine is enthusiastic and passionate about her role in CAPA and endeavours to help International Postgraduate Students to have a rewarding and positive experience in researching and living in Australia.
