International Students forum - Melbourne June 28-30

Event Date:
Sun, 28/06/2009 - Tue, 30/06/2009
Location:
Melbourne University

In anticipation of a Senate Inquiry into international students, and a Commonwealth Round Table on international student issues, CAPA is co-hosting a forum in Melbourne on international student issues, and supported by the University of Melbourne.

Although many of the issues of concern in regard to international postgraduates may seem relatively well established (eg improvements in visa conditions, transport concessions, etc), it is important to ensure that views expressed by CAPA as part of any consultation process (including by CAPA’s International Officers) are informed by the interests and needs of international students in the postgraduate community more broadly.

CAPA will be co-host a forum on international student issues with the National Union of Students (NUS), next Monday and Tuesday the 29th and 30th of June (with a welcome session on Sunday June 28th).

If you have an interest in international postgraduate issues, or are an international postgraduate student yourself, I encourage you to attend.

Registration details and a draft program for the forum is available below.

If you have any questions about the forum, or have questions, concerns or ideas on issues around international postgraduates at the moment, please don’t hesitate to contact Nigel Palmer (president@capa.edu.au)  or either of CAPA's 2009 International Officers: Anwar Shah (anwar.s@capa.edu.au) or Sally Dongping Huang (sally.dh@capa.edu.au).
