National Indigenous Students Conference (NUS)

The National Union of Students, The University of Sydney SRC and the University of Sydney Koori Centre are hosting a National Indigenous Student Conference.

The conference will be held from July 31st to August 2nd, 2008 at the University of
Sydney.

The main aims of the conference are:
• To provide an opportunity for Australian university Indigenous student representatives to meet face to face
• To provide the basis for strengthening a network of Indigenous students from all Australian universities
• To facilitate discussion around Indigenous students’ issues ranging from equity and diversity in the higher education sector to welfare of Indigenous students in the broader community.
• Promote discussion around best practice on university campuses for Indigenous student support in order to develop policy and make positive recommendations to universities.
The conference will contain a discussion session at which Indigenous Education issues will be the main topic, in addition to Higher Education Review. This will be held on Saturday from 11.30am – 12.30pm, however session times are able to be moved subject to the availability of speakers.
