Overseas student bonanza
OVERSEAS enrolments in the vocational education and training sector are booming, but universities are still the biggest export revenue earners in the education services sector.

Revenue includes fees and all other goods and service consumed by overseas students.
Overseas students victims of 'new slave trade'
YOUNG Mauritians hit by the latest scam targeting international students are the victims of "the new slave traders", according to the Mauritian media.
Australia and Ireland are the most popular destinations for students from the island nation in the Indian Ocean, many of whom come to study "skills shortage" courses to speed up their quest for residence.
Overseas students flout work rules
INTERNATIONAL students are making a mockery of immigration laws by flouting visa conditions which limit them to 20-hour working weeks, with those driving taxis in Victoria clocking up to twice as many hours behind the wheel as they're allowed.
Despite a warning from Immigration Minister Chris Evans that taxi owners who employed students in breach of their visa restrictions risked up to two years' jail, cab advocacy bodies and student drivers revealed the industry was largely ignoring the law.
Sharp growth in languages
AUSTRALIA is recruiting overseas students to key university and vocational education pathways at three times the international average, a report from English Australia, the association of English teaching colleges, shows.
Accord to welcome Chilean students
CHILE will pay to send up to 500 of its top university students each year to Australia for postgraduate education under a landmark agreement enabling long-term collaboration and exchange.
Universities Australia chairman Richard Larkins and Chilean Foreign Minister Alejandro Foxley signed the scholarship deal in Sydney yesterday.
The priority disciplines for masters and PhD study reflect similarities between the economies of the two nations and Chile's wish to partner with Australia in Asia-Pacific engagement.
