2009 Annual Council Meeting Conference Dinner: 30 Years of CAPA

CAPA is pleased to announce The 2009 Annual Council Meeting Conference Dinner: 30 Years of CAPA: 

In Sydney, on March 21st and April 1st 1979, ten postgraduate associations held an Inaugural General Meeting, founding the Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations as the group to be responsible for the submission, Remuneration under the Commonwealth Postgraduate Award Scheme: A submission by CAPA to the Federal Government.

  • On the 6th December 1989, during the ACM held at Monash, a function called "The Celebration of a decade; CAPA 1979-1989" was held to celebrate CAPA's 10th birthday.
  • On March 31st 1999, CAPA hosted a 20th Anniversary Symposium on postgraduate issues at Sydney University to commemorate the twentieth anniversary CAPA.
  • On May 29th 2004, CAPA hosted its 25h Anniversary Ball at the Boulevard Hotel in Sydney to coincide with its Special Council Meeting. The event was a formal occasion, with the Honourable Gough Whitlam as guest speaker.

An invitation is now extended to all who have been involved in supporting the efforts of CAPA and its member organisations over the years - to celebrate 30 years of CAPA.

This invitation is extended to all current and former postgraduates, staff of postgraduate associations and the wide circle of friends in higher education and beyond who have joined with CAPA in protecting and promoting the interests and needs of postgraduate students over the years.
